This year I have had the privilege of joining a Chinese/German Classical choir here in Beijing! So I thought I would share about the experience I have had so far, along with some pictures of the choir during our Summer concert.
First off I would like to say that so far it has been quite an enjoyable experience! The music the conductor chooses is beautiful, and not only do I enjoy singing it, but I also enjoy listening to it. The repertoire mostly consists of music from Schubert, and most are in German. So it can also be a fun challenge to learn how to pronounce everything correctly!
Each performance is quite fun during and before. The dress rehearsals are always very fun as well as we practice positioning and how to bring the audience into the music. For this summers concert I also had the privilege to sing as the solo in a quartet! It was a new experience, especially turning a classical piece into something that even brought the children in and interested them. The most rewarding part is when you see both the old and young touched by the melody, and blessed by the performance.
For me, I take this as a wonderful opportunity to shed the light of Christ through singing, as many of the songs are actually Christian. And by letting His light shine through me. I hope that as I sing, not only will those who listen be touched, but also feel and see the light of Christ flowing out of my mouth as I sing unto The Lord!
Enjoy the pictures below, and if I get a copy of the concert singing, I will post it on my YouTube channel "Joy in Singing."
