Struggles in our lives right now:
How to help by donation:
So far there are three ways to donate to us. At this point we are requesting monthly donations if possible as we need a reliable source of funds. Of course we are very happy for even the smallest donation! God loves a cheerful giver, and giving makes you cheerful!
Here's three links you can choose from:
On our website is a Paypal donation button: http://www.ministry4jesus.com/Donations.html
From there you can donate one time or reoccurring.
To donate monthly through Paypal, you must be signed into your Paypal account. When you click Donate you will see a "recurring payment" option. If you are not signed in to Paypal, you can only make a one time donation.
We also have two GoFundMe campaigns opened right now, one for Joshua's adoption [http://www.gofundme.com/or06co] and one for our living expenses [http://www.gofundme.com/orj1ao]. Donations on these sites can be one time, monthly, and anonymous.
Spread the word! Even by sharing these links and our needs to your friends and other people you are helping us!
Thanks so much for your help and prayers,
The Weavers.
Here's a complimentary photo album featuring random shots from our two years in China!
- With Summer vacation upon us, we are looking forward to spending more time together as a family and engaging in other ministry activity.
- Wen Jie is happy and and adjusting well with us.
- A Christian family from the States is coming to Beijing this summer and we anticipate the fellowship and friendship we can share.
- This fall we will be entering our third year in China.
- Through the powerful lessons Stuart has been teaching at the High School, over 100 students have had acknowledged that evolution is not true, and many of them seem to be showing interest in Christianity, and at least a few are born again.
- This year, since moving in to a larger house, we have been privileged to host many missionary teams coming through Beijing, and house other people short term, like Wen Jie or friends wanting to visit for a week or two.
- Joshua is steadily growing and improving his abilities. Even though he is a little behind in some areas he is healthy and happy. And he LOVES food!
- This summer there is a nurse who is coming to spend 10 days visiting us and the orphanages we relate with.
- We have been approached by a Chinese friend who is proposing the idea of helping us with starting a "secondary foster home orphanage," or similar ideas. He comes from the interest of educating the orphans, as many don't have good education, especially the older ones.
Struggles in our lives right now:
- Housing and feeding a dozen people in China is not cheap. Combine that with the fact that Stuart's income at the public high school is much lower than at the foreign elite schools that most foreign teachers in China teach at, makes for a very tight budget. Some of us are also tutoring and finding odd ways to earn a little extra money, but it's not easy. At this point we cannot even afford to rent a car. It would be a tremendous blessing to have even a FEW monthly donors supporting us. One American dollar equals more than 6 Chinese Yuan, so a little money in America goes a long way here in China! Scroll to the end of this article for more info on monthly donations.
- Summer time is visa time, and it is stressful. Paperwork between Canada and China, visa fees, the ever present "which visa?" question, negotiating plane flights, etc, meeting deadlines and new red tape, is doable but nerve-wracking. Pray that everything goes smoothly and we are granted good visas.
- Our family here has a lot of spiritual needs and difficulties here. The lack of like-minded church fellowship may play a part in that, but pray that we can all grow closer to God this summer.
- In regards to the adoption process for Joshua, there are MANY factors involved in that that make it difficult. Many miracles have to take place in the next year for this to happen! Financial burdens, regulations upon regulations to meet or gain exceptions for, and getting our home ready for inspection are some clouds over our heads already.
- We hear of so many ministry opportunities and people that need help, but it's hard to know what to do when we don't have a vehicle and money is very tight and we have to "play it safe" with the government while we are going through this adoption time. Pray that God will open the doors He wants us to pursue so that we can be of His best use here in China.
- This year the landlord raised the rent for our house by 1000 yuan per month, [$162]. Utilities is already a heavy burden and a rent hike was the last thing we needed! Also, our back yard is two "floors" and the railing overlooking the lower yard is terribly rusted out and needs to be replaced. So far the landlord is delaying in doing anything about it, and it is not safe at all for the children.
