One week ago we were informed of a situation where a 17 year old Chinese girl needed a short term home where she can recover emotionally from a family situation where she was being violated by her father and brother. She was ten when she was allowed to leave her aunt's house to live with her biological family for the first time. So she has suffered many hurts in her life regarding her family.
Our friend who works with orphans found out about her situation and since there are no Christian programs in China to deal with these kinds and ages of victims, she contacted us wondering if we could open our hearts and home to her for two to three months to aid in her healing. She also needed somewhere safe to live so our guarded community was an ideal location. So we accepted and welcomed Wen Jie into our home.
Wen Jie [jee e; her name ends in a short "e" sound.] is a very tender, sweet girl who has a lot of emotional instability, albeit she has a lot of ambition for her life and is in a trade school learning to be an accountant. She also is a young Christian and feels very grateful to live with us even though she doesn't speak any English. Sharing a bedroom with Christina helps her at night because she is insecure and has trouble falling asleep. She instantly fell in love with Joshua and amazingly he really likes her too. He usually is shy around strangers. She also scored brownie points with the young children by liking the cats!
As you may assume we DO have times where it's hard to communicate with her when Brandon and Christina and Jennifer aren't around, but with Google translate she can even somewhat join in with our family devotions.
We don't know how long she will need to stay but we hope she will receive healing and love from our family.
How you can help Wen Jie too:
~Pray that she will have strength and courage as she has to travel two hours to and from her school every day on the exhausting Beijing subways and buses. At only 17, she is still like a child emotionally and this must be hard on her.
~Pray that she will be able to forgive her whole family. Here in Chinese culture family shame is a huge issue and her whole family has turned on here for coming forward. Her family. especially her mom, puts lots of pressure on her to come home and pretend nothing happened or they threaten her with banishment from the family.
~Pray that a complete and full healing will come over her and that she will be able to feel God more than ever during this time.
~Pray for her father and brother will completely repent for the harm they caused and turn back to the Lord. Pray also for wisdom for all involved in the situation how to handle the justice needed.
~Pray for us that we can be a good influence and a much needed FAMILY in her life right now.
Another important way you can help is donating:
~~AT present no one is sponsoring her stay here and it would be a huge help to us to have a few people commit to helping financially for a few months during this time. The best way to do that is from the PayPal donation box at http://ministry4jesus.com/Donations.html If you have a PayPal account you can choose one time or monthly donations. Or you can donate to our ministry fund here: http://gofund.me/orj1ao
